Solitaires and Stacks with Stones – May 10
Three rings. Three techniques. One unforgettable day at the jeweller’s bench.
In this hands-on jewellery workshop, you’ll create three sterling silver stacking rings, each with its own style, structure, and stone-setting technique. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a set of rings designed to be worn individually or stacked together.
Designing Your Stacking Rings
Throughout the workshop, you’ll work with three different wire profiles: square, twisted, and half-round, learning how each shape influences the character of a finished ring. One ring will remain plain (textured or polished), while the other two will feature carefully set gemstones.
Your instructor will guide you through essential silversmithing techniques including forming, soldering, shaping, and finishing sterling silver rings.
Stone Setting Techniques
Two of your rings will feature 3 mm gemstones, allowing you to explore two classic jewellery-setting methods:
• Bezel setting
• Basket or prong setting
To make the learning process accessible and stress-free, students will work with synthetic and lab-created gemstones, which are ideal for practicing stone setting. You can choose from cubic zirconia, synthetic sapphire, ruby, or emerald.
Finishing Your Rings
Once assembled, you’ll refine and finish each piece using professional tools, filing, sanding, polishing, and adding texture if desired. The result is a set of three handcrafted sterling silver stacking rings, each with its own personality.
Wear them as a minimalist trio, mix them with other rings, or gift them to someone special.
