Gemstone Carving
Juvelisto School of Metal Arts is excited to welcome guest instructor Bruce McCorkell to share his knowledge of gemstone carving with us and our students. Gemstone carving may seem like a difficult or mysterious craft but with over 20 years of experience, Bruce takes hardness out of cutting these rocks!! His debut course will be a 2-day intensive program and you don’t want to miss out on this unique learning opportunity.
In this program students will learn about the gemstone materials they will be using, a brief history of gem carving to better understand this unique art form, how to design a carving based on the gem material, how to use the tools and equipment necessary to create a gemstone carving, and even how to make your own polishing tools! No experience is necessary, so whether you are totally new to gemstones and jewellery or are looking to bring your jewellery designs to another level this course would be perfect for you!
